QUICK ANSWERS

Start with the signal.

Specific controls, what they change, and where to look when audio is missing.

01Getting sound out

Connect your guitar to an iPad-compatible audio interface, connect wired headphones or monitors to the listening output, then open AxeRig and choose an Amp NAM capture and a Cab IR. If you get no sound, check AxeRig’s audio input permission in iPad Settings, confirm the interface is connected and selected, and check the interface’s output level and mute controls.

02Drive and Output on the Namplifier

Drive changes how hard the signal hits the front end of the Amp NAM capture, much like turning up the input or gain on a real amp. More Drive can make a capture respond with more grit and compression; the result depends on the capture. Use Output after Drive to set the amp stage’s level and balance loudness. Lower Output if added Drive makes the sound too loud.

03Low Shelf, Mid and High Shelf

The Low Shelf and High Shelf both use 650 Hz as their split point. Low Shelf shapes the range below 650 Hz; High Shelf shapes the range above it. Mid is a separate broad mid control. These Namplifier controls shape the Amp NAM stage; Cab IR Low Cut and High Cut are separate filters later in the signal chain.

04Effects and their controls

Press the Pedal NAM or Cab IR box to choose a capture or IR from TONE3000, then press its center button to open the controls. Pedal NAM exposes Drive, Tone and Level; Cab IR exposes Low Cut, Tilt and High Cut. Studio Dual Delay includes separate left/right time and feedback controls, cross feedback, Mix and filters. Reverb offers Spring or Studio 1, plus Plate, Room or Hall voices, with Mix, Pre-delay, Decay, Size, Damping and filter controls. Post IR loads an impulse response from TONE3000 or Files for ambient reverb or short delay, with Mix, Level and Tone controls. The settings shown in the screenshots are examples.

05Effect order and signal flow

AxeRig routes guitar through pre-effects, the Amp NAM, the Cab IR and post-effects. Drag effect blocks to reorder them and shape the sound around the amp. A change in position can change how one effect responds to another, so listen after moving a block.

06Scenes and MIDI

A preset has eight scene slots. Turn Scenes on before recalling or storing a scene. Select a populated slot to recall its saved settings; adjust the sound and use the update button to store the current scene in the selected slot. Stompbox FX mode is for a MIDI foot controller to turn individual pedal effects on and off while playing. With Stompbox FX mode off, MIDI Program Changes 0–23 select presets and 24–31 select Scenes 1–8. With Stompbox FX mode on, Program Changes 0–7 or 24–31 toggle effects 1–8. The Scenes and Stompbox FX modes turn each other off, so configure your controller messages for the mode you are using.

07Latency and dropouts

A wired audio interface and wired monitoring provide the most dependable playing response. Bluetooth audio adds delay and is not recommended for real-time guitar monitoring. If you hear dropouts, close other audio apps and try a larger audio buffer if that setting is available in your current AxeRig build.
